Masoud Hafezi noted the establishment of a base for exports to the African region with a focus on Uganda, adding “the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology will lend its financial and spiritual support to the establishment of this exports base so that the exports of Iranian knowledge-based products and the presence of two commercial brokers overseas in Kenya and South Africa will be further facilitated.”
He went on to add, “the African region has high potential for importing Iranian knowledge-based products. The continent is home to 54 countries with an overall population of over 1.1 billion which has always been the focus of attention of European and East Asian countries.”
According to Hafezi, the exports of Iranian products, be it knowledge-based or otherwise, is not on a desirable level at the present, and defining action plans with the aim of gaining a good share of this market is essential.
The exports base is expected to facilitate the export of knowledge-based products particularly in the fields of advanced materials and laboratorial equipment into the African region through market research services and product marketing .
Hafezi then referred to Kenya, adding “there are two Iranian medical clinics in Kenya, Iran Clinic and Pakroud, that have provided the necessary conditions for exporting health products to this country through the Red Crescent organization.”
He also maintained that the two countries have also reached an agreement on registering a number of pharmaceuticals and exporting them to Kenya.
